Nelson Sea Cadet Promoted

Recently, Nelson Sea Cadet Kane Cho was promoted to the 2nd highest rank in the Sea Cadet program. His new rank is Chief Petty Officer 2nd Class (CPO2).

At the same time, CPO2 Cho was also appointed as Coxswain of the corp. Coxswain is the most senior cadet in the corp.

CPO2 Cho who lives in Castlegar has been with the Nelson Sea Cadet Corp for five years. During his time with the corp, CPO Cho has been on four summer training courses, the Provincial Qualifying Regatta 3 times and spent last summer employed at Cadet Summer Training Centre Quadra. At CSTC Quadra, CPO2 Cho was teaching junior cadets how to sail.

Also that evening, two other appointments were made. Petty Officer First Class Hugh Cho was appointed as the Regulating Petty Officer and Petty Officer First Class Jordyn Crawford was appointed as the Quarterdeck Master.

81 Hampton Gray VC Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corp is named in honour of Robert Hampton Gray, a native of Nelson, who was the last Canadian to earn the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in Canada.
