Nelson joins Moose Hide Campaign

More than 300 people, including representatives from Nelson Police and RCMP, attended the Moose Hide Campaign event last week in the courtyard outside Nelson City Hall.

The Moose Hide Campaign is a grassroots movement of Indigenous and non-Indigenous men and boys who are standing up against violence towards women and children.

Wearing this moose hide signifies your commitment to honour, respect, and protect the women and children in your life and to work together to end violence against women and children.

Speakers from the Moose Hide Campaign, local First Nations and Elders spoke the crowd about the grassroots movement of Indigenous and non-Indigenous men and boys who are standing up against violence towards women and children.

Those attending, including students from Trafalgar Middle School, joined in the Walk to End Violence Against Women and Children through the downtown core of Nelson.

This event is sponsored in part by Nelson VAWIR and Nelson Community Services.

Moose Hide Campaign day in B.C. is On February 24th, 2020 when people from across the province will be fasting and coming together to show their commitment to ending violence against women and children.
