NDYC celebrates Youth Week

Nelson and District Youth Centre is gearing up for Youth Week at the Lake Street facility.

Youth Week is a celebration that focuses on the idea that youth are an integral part of our community and that they deserve to be celebrated.

In the spirit of fun and community engagement, the NDYC will be hosting a Skate Demo starting at 5 pm. on May 5th, as well as a Dance and Cypher starting at 7 p.m.

The public is invited to Come share their favourite dance moves and learn some new ones from our local talent.

On May 6th, NDYC is hosting an open house that will include a BBQ, music, Skate competition, live painting and a youth art showcase.

The festivities will run from 2-6 p.m. and the whole community is welcome to come out and enjoy these events.

Events will be entry by donation.

Youth Week is a province wide celebration held annually during the first week of May.

It is a week focused on building a strong connection between young people and their communities, as well as promoting awareness of the issues that youth face.

This year Nelson has an array of exciting events planned for youth to participate in.
