Mt. Willet Wilderness Forever and Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative (Y2Y) are hosting an evening presentation by Dr. Suzanne Simard on the hidden life of our inland rainforests.

Simard will explain how trees in these marvellous forests communicate with each other. The presentation will take place on Wednesday, May 16, from 7-8:30 p.m., at the United Church in Nelson, 602 Silica Street.

Simard studies the hidden life of forests as a professor of Forest Biology and Conservation Science at the University of British Columbia. Suzanne’s work on understanding the astonishing complexity and symbiotic relationships in our forests has broad implications for our relationships with the earth.

“Suzanne’s work on the fungal networks of forests describes how some of the relationships between trees function. We hope that it will be used in shaping how we practice forest conservation in our area,” says Carolyn Schramm of Mt. Willet Wilderness Forever.

Please join Mt. Willet Wilderness Forever and Y2Y for Dr. Suzanne Simard’s presentation on May 16 at 7 p.m. to learn more about our amazing forests.
