Staff at Nelson Community Food Centre have installed Mmeasures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Staff said in a media release, they have adjusted our programs and events calendar to minimize the risk of COVID 19 spreading in our building and community.

“We have looked to the Public Health Agency of Canada, the Province of BC and Community Food Centres Canada for guidance,” the release said.

“Because much of what we do is centred around gatherings and making social connections — things that our health agencies suggest should be limited — we have cancelled all of our programs other than our Food Bank, which is now open Wednesdays only, between 1 and 5 p.m.”

“It is no longer open on Mondays,” the release added..

Anyone wanting to make donations to help get food to people who need it, should understand that, at this time, only financial donations will be accepted.

“The easiest way to give is through the Nelson Community Food Centre website ,” the release said.

“This is a dynamic situation that will change over time. For more information on how the Nelson Community Food Centre is operating over the next few weeks, please consult our website (nelsoncfc.ca), our Facebook page, call Andrew at 250-551-0305 or email us at info@nelsoncfc.ca. We’ll be providing updates as soon as they are available.”
