The Village of Salmo is pleased to announce the names of the artists whose work has been selected for the September 2017 – January 2018 window art display. They are Salmo paleo-artist Wade Moravec, Salmo Valley nature artist Dulcie Rich and Nelson potter Jan Formby. The new art displays will be installed on September 21,2017.

The three Village Art Windows, which are visible from the highway and lit at night, were constructed to provide an opportunity for Salmo Valley and Kootenay region artists to showcase their work in a way that is visible to pedestrians walking along Salmo’s Main Street and street traffic. The art windows help to support the arts and encourage visitors to explore Salmo.

Submissions were reviewed by a panel made up of the Council representative with the arts portfolio, a Chief Administrative Officer, and a representative of project partner Heritage Hub Inc.

The Village of Salmo would like to thank the artists that had their art on display for the first four month period since the windows were unveiled on May 20th, 2017. They are Salmo wildlife photographer Monte Comeau, Slocan Valley textile artist Emma Kjelson and Salmo Elementary artists of Ms. Hatt’s Grade 3 / 4 class.

The art will be on display for a 4 month interval after which new displays will be selected from applicants. Priority is given to Salmo Valley and Kootenay region artists and seasonal items during relevant seasons. Both individuals and groups may apply. Applications are received on an ongoing basis.
