An important new communication tool is now being offered for staff, parents and students in the Kootenay Lake School District to stay well-informed and better connected.
The mobile app, Schoolkit Hub, is now available for download free on both iPhone and Android.
The new mobile app provides audiences with the latest announcements, news, events and contact information about the District, any of the schools and select departments.
“This tool is another opportunity we can offer parents and students to remain right up-to-date on school and district information, especially during these times,” said Superintendent Dr. Christine Perkins.
Once downloaded on a phone or tablet, a user can choose which school(s) or district department they wish to receive information from. Notifications are then sent whenever new items are published, as well as immediate alerts for emergency broadcasts or unscheduled closures.
App features include:
- Up-to-date information on the district and school top news stories
- Notifications from the district and/or school(s) of the user’s choice
- School Calendar event notifications
- Contact and staff information on each school and departments
- Important Bus route announcements
- Make a Payment link
- Report Absence feature
- Emergency Broadcast notices (i.e. school closures – inclement weather or lockdowns)
“We understand that many parents are visiting our school websites on their mobile devices,” explains Dr. Christine Perkins, “so the launch of the new app helps to get the important information out through an efficient notification system.”
In addition to the app, school information will continue to be distributed through websites, social media, email and phone calls when appropriate.
The new app is FREE and easily downloadable to iPhones (Apple App Store) and Androids (Google Play). Search for "Schoolkit Hub by Sotropa.
