Preparation for Christmas begins now.

The Kootenay Christmas Fair is a 50-vendor, juried artisan fair being held at the Nelson Prestige Lake Side Resort Dec. 2-4.

It’s packed full of all of the essentials needed to create a proper Christmas holiday, including Old World Bakery conducting a ginger bread house work shop.

The Kootenay Christmas Fair is filling the void left by the cancellation of the Nelson Arts Council’s Artisan Market. The jury was made up of independent, professional individuals, just like the new Christmas Fair will be.

The jury criteria for successful applications are: wares handcrafted, primarily original design, high quality of product, diversity of product and product category, affordability and salability, clarity and professionalism of application.

With fair times being Friday 4-9 pm, Saturday 10 am-6 pm, Sunday 10 am-5 pm, people will have three chances to see what is in store at the fair.

Sponsored by Positive Apparel and EZ Rock, the event is still looking for a few high-end artists to join in.
