Thirteen-year-old Kyra Burkart explored her local watershed recently and got a closer look at Anderson Creek near Nelson.

She joined other Grade 8 students from Trafalgar Middle School who participated in Know Your Watershed, a Columbia Basin Trust water-stewardship initiative.

Kyra and the rest of the students did water quality testing and toured local water treatment facilities as part of the day-long field trip.

Know Your Watershed includes two classroom sessions and a field trip that helps teach local students where their water comes from, how it is used  in their community and where it goes after it is used.

Students from across the Columbia Basin have been taking part in Know Your Watershed this fall. Learn more at www.cbt.org/water.
