A very special event is planned for the Kootenay Shambhala Centre Monday, Oct 31.

Open house is presenting Acharya Eve Rosenthal from Halifax, NS.

Acharya Rosenthal will be giving a talk entitled “Riding the Edge of Wakefulness.”  Everyone is invited to come. Open house is from 7-9 p.m. with tea after.

Acharya Rosenthal has been practicing the Dharma and Tai chi since 1973 when she first met Chogyam Trungpa in Boston. The Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche empowered her as a senior teacher in 2004, conferring upon her the title of Acharya.

This year she is teaching throughout North America. The Kootenay Shambhala Centre considers themselves “incredibly privileged and delighted” to host her at the centre.

Acharya is a Sanskrit word that means “teacher.” It refers to individuals that Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche has empowered to represent him and the Kagyu, Nyingma, and Shambhala lineages he holds.

Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche chose these individuals because of their knowledge, wisdom, and commitment to the confluence of teachings found in Shambhala.
