If you’re a senior and a Nelson Hydro customer, this one’s for you. On Monday, October 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., come find out about the Seniors Energy Efficiency Program that provides a free installation of basic energy saving materials in your home.
This free session at the library is the perfect place to drop in to ask questions, understand the process, and get signed up.
“The two volunteers who came to my home were just wonderful,” says program participant Tina Shrimpton. “I’m thrilled with the results!"
West Kootenay EcoSociety and Nelson Hydro’s EcoSave program have teamed up to offer the Seniors Energy Efficiency Program, with the aim to help seniors live more comfortably at home and save money on energy bills. The program offers 4 LED light bulbs, weatherstripping (sealing around doors and windows), water-efficient shower heads, faucet aerators, outlet insulators, as well as a check of your hot water, fridge, and freezer temperatures.
“We’ve had great success so far,” says Erin Thompson, program manager at the EcoSociety. “Right now, we have 15 spaces left – if you’re interested, come join us at the library to find out more.”
Want to sign up for the Seniors Energy Efficiency Program online? Check out www.ecosociety.ca/seniors-weatherization. Any Nelson Hydro customer 65 years or older or who will turn 65 in 2019 is invited to participate.
Do you have questions about energy efficiency programs in the area, but you’re not a senior? Come join us! Thompson will be available to answer questions from people of all ages about the energy savings programs they might be eligible for.
