Heritage fair to provide family fun in downtown Nelson

A burgeoning tradition since their heritage building turned 100 years old in 2012, Ellison’s is once again hosting their annual Heritage Fair.
“This is an eclectic event to celebrate Ne’lsons roots and community spirit” says event organizer Jessica Curran.
For a few hours this Saturday, the local business’ parking lot will be turned over to a charity barbeque, local vendors, a petting zoo, horse carriage rides, and a display of antique cars.
Staff will be on hand, decked out in 1930’s attire.
“It’s a little different, like a scene from a 30’s movie – very charming and very Ellison’s” says Curran.
The event will be free with all donations going to Mothers and Babies in Haiti. Local midwives will be running the barbeque and raffle.
In addition to the other family friendly events, Nelson’s Nature Kinders will also be providing educational and entertaining nature focused programs.
Entertainment for grown-ups will include performances from James Lamb, Jenny and the Jets, and Mountain Station.
Staff will put their costumes to good use leading a square dance to wrap up the fair.
The event runs from 2:30 until 6:30 p.m., Saturday (August 23), at Ellison’s Market.
