Great Canadian Shoreline Clean-Up makes stop in Crawford Bay
The Eastshore Freshwater Habitat Society and Friends of Kootenay Lake are teaming up to organize a community shoreline clean-up event at Crawford Bay Beach.
Take action against shoreline garbage by joining the group on Saturday, October 3rd for the Crawford Bay Shoreline Clean-Up event.
This will be a great opportunity for community members to have fun, help the lake, and socialize.
The plan is to meet at Crawford Bay Beach at 1 p.m. and start cleaning up garbage along the shoreline at Crawford Bay Beach.
After the clean-up there will be campfire with free hotdogs and refreshments.
This event is part of the Great Canadian Shoreline Clean-Up, a nation-wide initiative to clean-up Canada’s shorelines.
In 2014, nearly 140,000 kg of litter was removed from 2,500 km of shorelines from across Canada.
For our local shorelines, waterways and oceans around the world, shoreline litter is a global environmental problem that can have long-term impacts on ecosystems, wildlife and people.
CraRemoving it helps make our aquatic ecosystems cleaner, healthier and safer for all living things.
