Crime Wave hits BC Interior

While most of the country continues to battle crime in traditional ways, several interior communities have invited it straight to their heart in the form of an organized road trip by a handful of the province’s most devious minds.

“I’m not even exactly sure how we hatched this particular plot,” says Dieter Kalteis whose third novel, Triggerfish, will be released next month by ECW Press.

“But all of a sudden, there it was and a whole gang of us were playing along.”

The gang in question consists of a sharp group of novelists, who all make BC their home, and crime writing their genre of choice. Kalteis will make the trek from Vancouver with Sam Wiebe (Invisible Dead, Random House) and Linda L. Richards (When Blood Lies, Orca Books).

On the Kelowna portion of the tour on May 17th, they’ll be joined by Laurie Carter (Bear of A Honeymoon, Emily Carr’s BC) as well as Nelson’s RM Greenaway (Cold Girl, Dundurn Press) and Deryn Collier (Open Secret, Simon & Schuster). The evening of readings and discussion at the Kelowna Branch of the Okanagan Public Library gets underway at 7 p.m.

The highlight of the tour comes on (Wednesday) May 18th at 7:30 p.m. when Wiebe, Richards, Greenaway, Collier and Kalteis will be featured as part of the Oxygen Art Centre’s Art Space Series in Nelson.

With this group, the evening is sure to be engaging, while these veteran scribes read from their latest works and discuss the finer points of writing crime fiction.

Questions will be encouraged and the authors will be available post event for signing and discussion.

Otter Books will be on hand with books for sale.
