The snow is back on on Baker Street outside local businesses eager for the Winter Kickoff Festival to begin.

Small mounds of snow started appearing Friday morning with more than 40-plus events happening over 10 days in six communities as part of the Winter Kickoff Festival.

Locals are invited to celebrate the pre-winter season in the Nelson and Kootenay Lake region in true Kootenay-style. Nelson and Kootenay Lake Tourism (NKLT) with sponsorship from Whitewater Ski Resort and Nelson District Arts Council, is thrilled to hold the 2nd Annual Winter Kickoff Festival from November 22 to December 2, 2018.

“We want to provide visitors and locals with lots of compelling reasons to experience the Nelson and Kootenay Lake region before winter truly arrives. Locals here are great ambassadors for the region, and are key to a successful event. We hope to see you there,” said NKLT Executive Director Dianna Ducs.

Winter Kickoff Festival offers local businesses and organizations a chance to show off what makes our region truly special, especially at a time of year where locals and visitors are looking for entertainment and getting ready, before the snow arrives.

Experience film screenings, food tours, craft fairs, culinary attractions, brewery crawls, craft beer nights, retail events and specials, arts and culture, live music, mural tour, Santa, and so much more.

Winter Kickoff is a unique opportunity for people of all ages to really get excited for winter by taking part in events like these that inspire creativity, expand the imagination and bring the people of the Kootenays, as well as visitors, together.
