Gord Shannon is back doing his best to stamp out ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) — a neurodegenerative disease that is sometimes referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Shannon, volunteer walk coordinator and ALS patient, is on a goal of raising $35,000 for the Peoples Drug Mart West Kootenay Walk for ALS in Nelson on (Sunday) June 1.

The 2014 West Kootenay Walk for ALS is set for Lakeside Rotary Park. Registration is 11:30 a.m. with the walk beginning at 1 p.m.

Everyone is welcome to participate in this inspiring event; there is no fee to attend.

Money raised goes toward ALS patient services and research: 60 percent Patient Services & Programs, 40 percent goes toward ALS Research to find the cause and cure for ALS.
