CFUW hosts Stories Inspire Passion fundraiser

Canadian Federation of University Women Nelson & District (CFUW) is hosting its third fund raising event SIP Talks: Stories Inspire Passion.

SIP Talks is a social event where one hears extraordinary stories from seven dynamic women who live in the Kootenays.

Anyone wondering what inspires a person to write a book, embark on fascinating research, or what it is like to compete in a World Championship, then you will want to attend SIP Talks.

CFUW Nelson & District’s goal is to raise funds to continue awarding scholarships to women in the community.

This year’s impressive line-up of presenters:

  • Patricia Henman – Director, Actor, Singer/Songwriter, Producer, Educator, Author
  • Zaynab Mohammed – award-winning poet, artist and BC Cultural Days Ambassador
  • Lori Anne Donald – physiotherapist, business owner, member of Canada’s National Ski Mountaineering team, avid mountain biker, trail runner, whitewater kayaker, and salsa dancer
  • Luanne Armstrong – award winning author and mentor to emerging writers
  • Jane Byers – poet, writer and Nelson’s Cultural Ambassador
  • Sydney Black – mama, performer, producer and the Executive Director of the Nelson & District Arts Council
  • Avery DeBoer Smith – Master’s student, Environmental Consultant and Chair of Neighbours United and the Youth Climate

Presenters will share their personal stories of what inspired them to become the dynamic women they are today.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 24th, 4-7 p.m. at the Prestige Lakeside, doors will open at 3:30 p.m.

Tickets are $65, which includes a beverage, appetizers, and of course, inspirational stories. To purchase contact a club member or go online at http://siptalks.eventbrite.ca/ and tickets will also be sold at Otter Books commencing September 1st.
