The Capitol Theatre Summer Youth Program is back to entertain the public, this time presenting the 1968 British musical,Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

The musical about an out-of-this-world car that flies through the air and sails the seas, is directed by Geoff Burns, with music by Allison Girvan and choreography by Lynette Lightfoot.

This beloved family favourite features a cast of 40 local youth, that is filled with amazing choreography and unforgettable songs – including the Academy Award nominated title song.

Quinn Barron plays the eccentric inventor, Caractacus Potts who sets about restoring an old race car from a scrap heap with the help of his children Jeremy (Emerson Kelly) and Jemima (Lisa Bruckmeier).

The family soon discover the car has magical properties including the ability to float and take flight.

Trouble occurs when the evil Baron Bomburst (Dune Macdonald) desires the magic car for himself. The family joins forces with Truly Scrumptious (Emma Chart) and batty Grandpa Potts (Kosmo Sammartino) to outwit the dastardly Baron and Baroness (Julia Halbert) and their villainous henchman, the Child Catcher (Shasta Barkman).

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is ultimately a feel-good story about the power of family and the bonds created to overcome any obstacle.
