Capitol Theatre raises curtain on exciting new season

Saturday night on Victoria Street in Nelson, the Capitol Theatre opens it’s season with a doubleheader of masterful live performances.
The curtain is lifted on the new season Saturday night followed by the first Family Series presentation on Sunday afternoon.
Saturday at 7:30 p.m., RagMop Theatre presents Falling Awake, a multi-awardwinning surrealist comedy about a women and her deceased lover meeting in dreams. This
ingenious and playful little physical comedy from Vancouver’s much-travelled Ragmop Theatre duo is an all-access pass into a humorously poignant dreamland.
Actors Nayana Fielkov and Matthew McCorkie incorporate a technical skill set borrowed from physical comedy and mime into a bona fide theatrical landscape. Falling Awake brims with mesmerizing illusions, tender serenades, and absurd scenarios. Hilarious and exquisite, this seamless performance showcases the wonderfully bizarre questionable nature of reality as we know it.
Sunday afternoon Three Little Red Dots kicks off the Capitol Family Series with Habitats.
This show is for all ages, and incorporates elements of dance, circus, physical comedy andshadow puppetry. Inspired by themes of home and migrations, this interdisciplinary
performance explores the relationship between a woman and a mysterious white hare as they travel through dream-like roads in search of her identity.
Habitats will also be the opening act for Falling Awake on Saturday evening.
