The Big Lip Sync Contest, one of Nelson’s favourite traditions, is returning to the Capitol Theatre on Saturday, March 7th.

A fundraiser for the Capitol Theatre, the event will feature contestants (silently) belting out the lyrics to their favourite hit songs in hopes of attaining glory, bragging rights, and cash prizes.

Theatre goers will have the chance to see their friends, family and coworkers transform into rock stars.

This year’s competition will be hosted by Nelson performers Liam Long and Eli Geddis.

“The Big Lip Sync Contest really is for anyone and everyone,” says Geddis.

“You might see your bank teller up there, your best friend’s mom, or, fingers crossed, one of your city counsellors. It really is just the perfect place to lose yourself and win the big prize.”

Stephanie Fischer, executive director of the Capitol Theatre, is looking forward to seeing who will audition to be in the show.

“This is a great chance to have that moment in the spotlight,” she says. “All ages are welcome to participate, with cash prizes being awarded in four different categories.”

The categories are youth solo, youth group, adult solo, and adult/family group. To audition for a spot in the show, all you need to do is register by Friday February 13th at the Capitol Theatre Box Office or by calling 250-352-6363. Auditions will be held on Sunday the 14th.

All songs must be family-friendly.

If you are chosen to take part you will have three weeks to practice your best facial gymnastics, choreograph your groovy dance moves, and create your unique costume. It’s sure to be a fabulous event for all.

Tickets to watch the show will be available starting February 17th at the Capitol Theatre Box Office or online at http://capitoltheatre.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=bb9167a066f14403a53b6d3d0&id=8cc4085a6a&e=15b55ed728.

Tickets are $15 for adult, $10 for youth, or $45 for family for four.
