The Nelson Blueliners, Nelson and area’s competitive recreational women’s team, are sharpening up for their 18th season of hockey.

The Nelson squad is coming off of a very successful 2010 season, where they played higher level recreation hockey in Spokane, Whitefish, Kaslo, Vernon, and, of course, at their own tourney – the Nelson Icebreaker.

The Blueliners are starting the 2011 season by heading down to Spokane to defend their Hoctoberfest crown in mid October and to Wenatche and Whitefish later in the year.

The Blueliners may take their hockey seriously, but they have a lot of fun doing so. They are beginning weekly practices with coach Rob Wright on Sunday, Oct. 2, 6:30–7:45 in the Nelson and District Community Complex.

The squad is looking for new players. Interested in taking part in challenging practices or going to tourneys throughout the area? Contact Loreli at 250-359-2996.
